This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of OpenAI. We are currently looking for a Hardware Security Engineer, Trusted Computing and Cryptography in United States. This role offers the chance to lead the design and implementation of hardware-based security systems that protect critical computational infrastructure. You will focus on integrating cryptographic techniques and secure hardware primitives into production environments, ensuring both high performance and robust security. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will co-design secure chipsets, develop performance-critical software, and drive innovations in trusted computing. This position combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, enabling you to make a significant impact on system security and reliability at scale in a cutting-edge technology environment. Accountabilities Co-design and evaluate secure hardware solutions in collaboration with vendors and cross-functional teams, including kernel, compiler, and ML engineers. Develop high-performance, secure software in Rust, C/C++, and Python to support cryptographic libraries, secure key management, and hardware integration. Architect and deploy systems using TPM2, Secure Boot, Nitro Enclaves, Intel SGX, AMD-SEV, and other secure hardware technologies. Collaborate with internal and external partners to align hardware innovations with organizational cryptographic and trusted computing requirements. Analyze and debug complex hardware-software interactions to ensure secure and reliable system operation. Contribute to forward-looking security initiatives and trusted computing research to anticipate and mitigate emerging threats. Requirements ~10+ years of industry experience in hardware security, hardware–software co-design, or related fields. ~ Proven expertise in deploying cryptographic systems at scale and integrating secure hardware primitives. ~ Strong programming skills in Rust and/or C/C++, with proficiency in Python. ~ Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, architect secure solutions, and troubleshoot complex production systems. ~ Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a focus on end-to-end problem solving and innovation. ~ Excellent analytical and communication skills for cross-functional technical collaboration. Nice to Have: Advanced degree in Computer Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience with HPC, low-precision computing, and SIMD architectures. Familiarity with emerging trusted execution environments and hardware security trends.
