Job Description
Job purpose The Education Programs Assistant is responsible for delivering guided interpretive programs and
providing coordination, organization, and administrative support for Pacific Historic Parks; educational
programming. Our mission is to support the USS Arizona Memorial and other Pacific Historic Parks
sites through education, interpretation, research, preservation, and restoration—to perpetuate the
memory of events and honor the people connected to these historic places.
Duties and Responsibilities ● Support and contribute to youth programs at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial.
● Coordinate and organize Pacific Historic Parks education programs and associated
administrative tasks.
● Collaborate with PHP staff and partner organizations to implement education programs.
● Maintain scheduling, shared calendars, program confirmations, and data collection.
● Maintain demographic spreadsheets for education programs both on- and off-site.
● Prepare monthly education reports and other database reports as needed.
● Attend regular Education Department meetings and maintain meeting notes.
● Coordinate day-to-day site operations, including bus logistics, lunches, and on-site program
support.
● Work with the Accounting Department to follow up on invoicing.
● Follow established procedures and policies to ensure the safe and effective delivery of
education programs.
● Assist with inventory and special events that may occur outside of traditional work hours, sites,
or locations.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications ● Relevant work experience in education, interpretation, or program coordination required.
● Bachelor’s in education a plus.
● Must own a reliable vehicle to commute between locations as required for the position.
● Proven computer literacy in Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace and Suite, Zoom, etc.
● Ability to work within deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Strong interpersonal communication skills.
● Proven capacity to work on interdisciplinary teams.
● Ability to organize and prioritize work.
● Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
● Ability to work flexible hours (i.e. weekends and/or afterschool hours)
● Public speaking experience a plus
● Multicultural competence and bilingual ability a plus (Japanese, Korean, Chinese)
Working Conditions ● Prolonged periods of sitting and working with standard office equipment, artificial lighting, air
conditioning, computers, phones, and other office equipment.
● Approximately 50% of the workday will be spent standing outdoors, exposed to varying
weather conditions, including heat, sun, wind, and rain. Additional prolonged periods of
standing may be required for select projects and special events.
● Ability to squat, kneel, and reach for objects.
● Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
● May need to periodically support programs outside of business hours (weekends, holidays,
after-hour programs, etc).
