Wholistic Pediatrics & Family Care, located in Tampa, Florida, is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Medical & Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position in a busy practice, ideal for a dedicated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with both pediatric and adult populations, particularly children with special needs (many of whom have autism or behavioral challenges) and adults managing conditions such as depression and anxiety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Phone triage and managing patient inquiries
  • Accurately obtaining and recording vital signs
  • Assisting with minor medical procedures
  • Dispensing lab forms and kits
  • Managing inventory and stocking medical supplies
  • Room setup and cleanup
  • Answering patient medical questions
  • Assisting with pediatric and adult phlebotomy and injections

Candidates should be proficient in the use of electronic medical records (EMR), email, scanning, and other standard software applications. The ability to multi-task efficiently and maintain a high level of patient care is essential.

Applicants must have graduated from an accredited technical institute and be certified/registered. References will be checked.

In our office, all staff is cross trained to cover the front desk and share with the general upkeep of the office, kitchen, and bathrooms.

We offer sick/vacation time, paid holidays, and the perks of working in a holistic office. Dental and vision insurance are available.

Office Hours are Monday- Friday 8:15-4:30 , no weekends or holidays. Saturday and evening hours may become a possibility in future, if interested.

As a non-smoking facility, we also adhere to a scent-free environment due to our patients' sensitivities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Medical and Administrative Assistant Duties

  • Phone and email triage: Medical assistants are responsible for assessing the urgency of patient medical needs, and determining the appropriate course of action. This may involve gathering relevant information about symptoms, medical history, and current medications to help prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition. Additionally, medical assistants may provide basic medical advice or instructions, schedule appointments, or escalate urgent cases to healthcare providers for further evaluation and treatment. Effective communication skills, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential for successful phone and email triage.
  • Room cleanup
  • File labs and documents in patient charts
  • Requirements: high school diploma and medical assistant certificate and 0-2 years of experience in a related field. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within an integrative medical practice.
